JAMES FLYNN and JUANITA WILSON (Producers)
James Flynn and Juanita Wilson are partnered in Dublin-based Octagon Films Ltd., which they established in 2002 with Morgan O'Sullivan and Will Baer to craft feature films for the international market. Rory O'Shea Was Here is Octagon's first in-house-developed project to be produced.
Mr. Flynn and Ms. Wilson were previously partnered in Metropolitan Film Productions Limited, which they had established in 1997. In-house projects produced by Metropolitan included Les Blair's H3 (starring Brendan Mackey) and Pat Murphy's Nora (starring Ewan McGregor as James Joyce and Susan Lynch as Nora Barnacle).
Separately, Mr. Flynn recently produced the acclaimed Showtime telefilm The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone, starring Helen Mirren and directed by Robert Allan Ackerman.
He commenced his career in the Irish film industry with John Boorman's Merlin Films International, as head of development. Prior, he had worked for the Investment Bank of Ireland.
From 1993 to 1997, Mr. Flynn worked as business manager of the fledgling Irish Film Board. Subsequently, he co-produced such features as Alan Parker's Angela's Ashes, Barry Levinson's An Everlasting Piece, Kevin Reynolds' The Count of Monte Cristo and upcoming Tristan & Isolde, Rob Bowman's Reign of Fire, and Tommy O'Haver's Ella Enchanted; and was associate producer on two Jerry Bruckheimer productions: King Arthur (directed by Antoine Fuqua) and Veronica Guerin (directed by Joel Schumacher).
He was a founding member of Moonstone Films and was a board member of the Screen Commission of Ireland (1997-2000) and Screen Training Ireland (1995-1999). He is currently chair of the Industry and Business Employer's Confederation (IBEC) Film Finance Committee and vice chairperson of Screen Producers Ireland. Ms. Wilson studied Fine Art in NCAD and Journalism in Dublin's DIT.
